PlanetBid is a reverse auction website. Every time a bid is placed the item price rises by $0.01. Each time a bid is placed the time on the auction increases by 15 seconds. When the timer reaches zero, a winner is declared. The product is then shipped to the user once the item has been paid for.
Over the course of many auctions the cost of these items is covered by the cost of the bids placed. Some auctions PlanetBid makes a loss on whilst some others are profitable.
